FOUNDATION: How Wealdstone FC Is Changing Lives Across Hillingdon And Harrow
Meet the independent charity turning our club’s community spirit into education, health, wellbeing and football opportunities for everyone across HA4, on and off the pitch.
The Wealdstone FC Foundation is our official charity, and it’s on a mission to break down barriers and inspire positive change through football.
Based in Ruislip and rooted in Hillingdon and Harrow, the Foundation is an independent registered charity born from the heritage and spirit of Wealdstone FC. Our mission is built on four key pillars: Community Engagement, Education, Health & Wellbeing, and Sport Development. Together, they guide everything we do, from classroom numeracy sessions to Saturday morning football, all aimed at building a healthier, more inclusive environment where everyone has the chance to thrive.
What We Offer:
That mission plays out in the classroom as much as on the training pitch. Football & Maths in Schools, delivered with support from the National League Trust and the Garfield Weston Foundation, pairs first-team players with local primary teachers for six-week programmes that build numeracy confidence through football. St Bernadette’s, Lady Bankes and West Lodge have all taken part this academic year.
The Foundation’s reach stretches well beyond the school gates. Weekly Tea Dances bring older adults together for ballroom, Latin, sequence and line dancing, while Walking Football gives over-50s and over-60s a low-impact, sociable way to stay active and fight isolation. Heads Up, the Foundation’s weekly men’s mental health session, offers a space for men who are struggling to open up and find support among others in a similar position.
Women’s football has a growing home at the Foundation too, with weekly women-only sessions linked directly to the club’s women’s team, who finished second in their first-ever season and won promotion. And every summer and Easter, HAF camps coached by first-team players from both the men’s and women’s sides bring football and multi-sport fun to local children, with this year’s summer camp set to be the biggest yet.
The Foundation also opens doors into work. A student from Orchard Hill College, which supports young people with SEN, completed weekly work experience at the club this year, picking up skills for his future career. A Brunel University student is following a similar path, completing 240 hours of placement across the summer camp, Foundation and Academy.
None of it happens without support. Every donation, sponsor and volunteer helps the Foundation reach further into the community, connecting people, improving wellbeing, supporting early education and opening up new opportunities for local residents across Hillingdon and Harrow. From a six-year-old building maths confidence through football to a first-time volunteer finding purpose at a Tea Dance, the impact is felt by people of every age and background.
